Private Messages Stuck in Outbox

I sent a PM to a forum member and the message
has been stuck in the Outbox for days.

I send a second PM to see if that one gets through
and now there are two messages sitting in the Outbox.

This is with a person that I had just had a back-and-forth
PM with no problems. (In fact, it’s a Reply to the that
previously successful PM.)

Does anyone else have this occasional problem, or a fix for it?

P.S. Dan Thacker, I sent your sticker and button to the
exact address you sent in the first PM, which does seem
different than the one you sent in a later PM.

I think (not 100%) it stays in the out box until the person opens the message.

Hmmm… Can anyone associated with the website confirm/deny this?

Not in my experience…usually if it goes to the outbox, you can send it later when the server isn’t so busy, or whatever issue keeping the sent message in the outbox gets fixed. I have experienced this issue in the past, and am not sure of the cause.

Hmmm… I don’t see anything in the Outbox that let’s you “Send” a Sent message again.

Obviously, you could hit Reply, but now you’re generating yet another message.
And these seem to be getting stuck in the Outbox as well. (I tried it twice.)

My first (stuck) message was sent yesterday at 8:55am, so I’m doubtful that
it’s because servers have been busy for the last 28 hours.

The mystery continues…

FWIW, all the private messages that I’ve sent, so far, went into my outbox first until the member it was sent to opened it at his end, and then it moved automatically from the outbox to the sent box.

Maybe there’s a glitch in the system sometimes, and that doesn’t happen the way it should?

Have you tried to PM the administrators about it ? Or is that message stuck in your outbox too ?

Since two knowledgeable forum members have suggested that, I’ll sit tight for a while
and see if that pans out.

I got an e-mail alert that someone sent me a private message but when I go to the forum to look there is nothing in the inbox, Weird.

Got this one too… a few days ago.

I got that one too, from a non-existant forum member…possibly spam that was cleaned up by the moderators who then removed the user?

I have also recieved a message saying I had a new PM, but found nothing when I went to look at it. Sounds glitchy to me, but we all know this is the one forum on the entire interwebs that’s 100% analog.

I forgot the apartment # ,[105],which is my fault,but one would think the postie could just leave it in the god d*mn mailbox
which is specifically there for such things.
I have no idea what will happen to the package,if they send it back to you or what.

It’s something with phpBB. It doesn’t only happen on this site - it happens on quite a few phpBB sites, actually. I’m not sure why, but it does.

Yes there was a spam PM fishing for emails that I reported. It was in well written english, asking about Taurus pedals I had for sale and asking if I could email them instead of PMing back. I have never had Taurus pedals.

I too have stuck messages - one from many months ago. Hek5 - I hope my email to your @psu address goes thru.

I too got the odd PM received email with no message when I logged on. The user was “guala” and when I searched through the list of users, no such person.

I checked for the PM within minutes of the email too.

I haven’t noticed the “stuck in outbox” phenom yet.
