ok i am in the market for a new means of amping my phatty for practice. when playing out i go through the pa. But at home we have a shitty dj power amp and shitty home theater speakers that constantly get blown by the bad amp…
keyboard amps seem to big and bulky. i am looking for a solid sound with portability.
so i was thinking about getting a single powered Jbl speaker maybe a 12 inch. i use a 12 channel mixer next to me so i can use my various keyboards, mics, and instruments.
Try loooking at those Roland Cube amps. I use the Roland Cube 30 all the time and they have some good effects that you can bypass the speaker if you are afraid of the highs killing the bass speaker. Ive run vocals, saxaphones, keyboards and basses through there with great effect. I think they are relatively inexpensive, just don’t get the 15. The guitar amp 30 is sweet sounding.

The bass has cosm modeling (5-6 different amps) delay, flange, reverb, auto wah, EQ, compression, aux input and it has ALOT of punch fora tiny amp.
Look at the different types they have for this line at sweetwater or some place like that. I don’t think youll be dissapointed. ROland makes the best keyboard amps ever especially in this model.

I knew a guy who used this amp and it will crank for its small size. the keyboard amps that are bigger and more powerful than this are to be had and if I was in the amp market for my moogs, this would be what I would get.
A cheaper alternative to the Roland amps would be a Peavy KB3. You want something that can handle the bass as well as the mids and highs. My Peavy does quite well, and has great tone. I recall seeing a KB3 on Sam Ash’s site for 299.99, though it may have been 199.99. Worth looking into, regardless. Also, anything with less than a 12 inch driver isn’t worth your time…unless you don’t mind losing some low end.
