playing MIDI on minimoog with Reason/Live

Hey all–

this is probably an extremely dumb question, but i cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the voyager to receive MIDI information from reason or live. I have my MIDI interface plugged in and turned on, but no information seems to be passing through to the keyboard.

is anyone familiar enough with these programs to help?

I have version 2.5 of Reason, and I could be wrong, but I do not belive that you can send midi to external devices with it. I can play its synths like subtractor etc with a midi keyboard, but I can’t have the sequencer drive my hardware synth. Perhaps this has changed in later versions. Anyone know?

I’m pretty sure Reason doesn’t send MIDI data - it only receives it. Perhaps Propellerhead Software will change this in future versions.

Live doesn’t send MIDI note data either, but will send MIDI clock and sync info (full version only - not the lite version).

Live 4 and 5 have full MIDI capabilities (in and out), but 3 and below don’t have any (except clock).

Reason does not transmit MIDI note data, it only receives.
