pitch wheel not working right

Hi, everyone.
I am not new to synths, but this is very strange.
It seems there is a hardware problem with my brand new LP stage 2 pitch wheel, namely it keeps putting the LP out of tune constantly, when I bend it and then release it. So the C note is no longer a C but sometimes A or B etc. Usually even if I just touch it, (not move it) it changes the tune. What’s more - if I down-bend it continuously several times, the tune will fall down to the downmost note and bending it down will no longer work at all. Bending it up several times will eventually raise the pitch to some point, but sadly completely out of tune. It is especially weird, that bending down doesn’t work the whole way but reaches its downmost tone already at some third of the travel. I tried PW amount calibration several times and PW calibration as well - interesting thing is, that the display (after the PW calibration) reads: 337 837 2740, whereas the manual says it should read something like 464 2068(+/-20) 3642. I use the latest software - 2.21S. What do you suggest?
Another thing: when I go through the presets, some are in tune and some are almost 2 semitones sharp, i.e. note A will appear as a note B in some presets. That could be connected to the problem I explained earlier. What do you suggest?

BTW:

  • I reloaded the firmware
  • I recalibrated everything
  • power and teperature are constant

P.S. If i connect another keyboard to LP through midi and bend the pitch wheel on this midi keyboard, everything works perfectly well.
I contacted Moog, still waiting for the answer. Can I fix it myself instead of shipping it back to USA (I am in Europe - Slovenia).

Thanx for suggestions.

Hi!

try with updating your LP to newest OS 3.1, it is not official yet, but works just fine for me ( and others) with some minor bugs..

read carefully the update instructions !

it is not complicated, but still..

anyway, it’s all i can thing out right now.

Amos will help you also, im shore, just pleas be patient, he is a busy man:)

P.S.
If things turn out to be out more complicated, you could contact Artist d.o.o. They distribute Moog Music products in Croatia and Slovenia, and they provide a good customer support ( talking from experience )

EDIT
sorry, i just realized you have already upgrade firmware..
Also, it sounds like a hardware problem to me

your firmware is 2.21 so install the new OS 3.1, you’ll find all instructions here.
good luck and let us know.

Do you have anything plugged into the pitch cv in?

If not, I would contact moog support. They are very helpful by phone or email. The firmware you are running has no known pitch wheel bugs like you describe. It sounds like a hardware issue, but call/email the experts to find out.

Thanx to all,

I got a reply from Moog. They say that it’s the LHC that is bad and needs to be replaced. So, yes, it is a hardware problem.
Cheers,
Tomaz
