“Musical instrument” is rather doubtful.
That’s probably what happens when someone has too much time (and money) on his hands… 
Not an instrument, but looks like a hella fun game.
Why would you say this isn’t a musical instrument? I’m not necessarily in disagreement with anyone, just curious.

I would say because it cannot be controlled precisely. If it played a specific note for each paddle, rather than randomly hitting the strings, it would be an instrument. I think almost anything could be a musical instrument, even pots and pans, as long as you are able to play them musically and control the rhythm.
