Phatty Tuner

How can I change the frequency of the root note in addition to all the other notes? I can’t figure this out. Please help me!

If you scroll through the master menu, there are options to detune and/or transpose the overall frequency and pitch of the oscillators.

I think that is what you’re looking for.

Well, I am using a Little Phatty and I updated it to OS 3.1 in order to use the Phatty Tuner. I recall seeing those options before updating, but now there is just the fine tune and the tuning scales as far as I can tell. But more specifically, I am looking to be able to change the frequency of the notes to specific frequencies…which I can do for all the notes using the Phatty Tuner except for the root note. How can I change the frequency of the root note along with all the others? Or how can I universally tune the synth using the same cents difference for all the notes?

I recall seeing that in OS 2, but I updated to OS 3 and now there are the tuning scales and the fine tune…How can I change the tuning of the whole synth universally by an exact amount of cents? OR how can I change the frequency of all the notes in Phatty Tuner, including the root note?

fine tune knob, front panel. Use it to match the root note to whatever frequency you want. then the rest of your scale should line up correcty.

Thank you, Amos! Am I correct in assuming then that the value of the fine tune is in cents? If so, is it at all possible to add a way to make it exact to the 100th decimal?

Or actually, even better would be to be able to adjust it to .0000
Is this possible?

you do realize you’re using a voltage-controlled analog synth, right?
The actual pitch of the oscillators is not accurate to the 100th decimal…
it is what it is… if it sounds good, it is good…
platitudes aside, you are better off setting the root note by ear if you are trying to tune to some specific other sound. The resolution of your ear should be sufficient to get you there.
If you are trying to compose music which requires pitch accuracy to a ten-thousandth of a cent, you should probably generate it inside a computer. Also, it’s worth remembering that most humans cannot detect a pitch difference any less than about three cents or so…

OK, yes, I agree, but you did not answer my question…is the fine tune in cents?

I’m just experimenting with different tunings and want to make sure all my instruments will sound in tune with each other…
