I’m intending to buy a new PC, and I’d like to run the Arturia Moog modular softsynth as well as a couple of other softsynths - Arturia’s ARP 2600, and also a PPG Wave 2.2 (I know there’s at least one of these available), and a VCS3 if I can find one.
What sort of spec would I be looking at for optimum performance? Arturia give a minimum spec for the Moog modular, but I’m looking for something better than minimum. As I’m going to have this PC built with this software in mind it’s worth going for the best I can get, within reason.
I’d be grateful for comments from people who use this software.
I have not seen a VCS3 or other EMS software emulation synth that is really sounding like an EMS. They all got the right features and parameter values. But not the right sound.
This is all like comparing a Steinberg Model E with the real minimoog.
And even the best minimoog like software is not relly sounding 100% like a real minimoog. Try to us FM. Or to use noise as mod source will full opened mod-wheel. This is very different in sound.
One can do fine music using those softsynths. But they will not take over the real classic synths.
You will also need the fastest processor(s) your money can buy to run the MMV and 2600V. I have a 2600V running on my PowerBook G4 and it really stetches the processor.
