I just got myself my first analogue synth (Voyager), I have been using mostly softsynths and the Access Virus TI Polar, so the whole mono analogue thing is kind of “new” to me. Especially with the actual patching (on the back). Can someone help me get things going? Give me some good patching advice, what is it possible to do with this thing?
First I wasnt sure if I could patch things at all with just this one unit. BUT… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMMaIEEFU6I ← I watched this one and saw that he routed something back to itself Can you explain?
THose jacks on the back are fully explained in your manual, and if you don’t have one, you con visit moogmusic.com, go to their product page, click on the voyager and a link to the pdf of the manual can be found there.
I will tell you though that those CV jacks are cv and gate inputs. my computer is going to die so ill finish this in a sec loll…
The red jacks are for the CV’s and the blue jacks are for gates, just try to keep that in mind. you CAN use mono audio cables, but its best to use TRS cables for CV because a mono cable will short to ground, and at least on the other foogers, will cause an interruption of normal operation.
Provided that you don’t exceed your limited voltages, you should be okay. There have been times where I might have connected two outputs together accidentally (big no no) but nothing went wrong. I do know that you don’t need to connect the headphone out to the external audio in because of an impeadance mismatch. If you have any other cv gear, just make sure the voltage ranges are compatible with eachother. You can do this with proper attenuation.
Those cv’s on the voyager are inputs, unless you have an old school, or a VX351, you won’t get any CV outputs.
Sorry for me half way answering your question last night lol I looked up and my computer had 0 minutes left on the battery.
