Patch to add the sound of muted strings inbetween notes

This is a little funny. I bought a Voyager because I had tried to make the electric bass sound like a synth bass for a while but couldn´t quite get there (obviously!) and now I want the Voyager to sound like an electric bass! What I´m after is the possibility to make the sound of a muted bass string, that thudd (?), to be able to give rhythm without a note. Bass players know what I mean. I want to be able to play the Voyager a bit more funky. So by turning a knob o the mod wheel a tad (can´t be too much) I want the sound to be short but still “organic”. What would your way of achieving this be?

With the filter envelope, try short A+D times and a quite low S level. Adjust the envelope amount, the cutoff and the waveform. This will provide you with a palm-muted-electric-bass-ish sound.
Then with pot mapping, you can route the modwheel to the volume envelope S level. If the A and D times are similar to those of the filter envelope, using the modwheel may allow you to obtain what ou’re after.

(I’ve only played an Old School Voyager so bear with me when it comes to pot mapping  )

Thanks! I´ll give it a try.

Ten years ago I dialed up a guitar patch that used key velocity to modulate the decay time so that I could get muted notes by playing softly. Shouldn’t take much tweaking for bass.

It was called “Dynamic Guitar”. Sound sample and sysex file here:

Hmm. That might be even better!
