Hi all - very satisfied LP user here and would love to have some extras so I just bought the CP-251 for the S/H, noise, extra LFO, etc. I’ve used a few modulars and patchcord enabled synths in the past, but don’t really know what to look for in my purchase of a set for my CP-251/LP expansion.
Could I just use some regular audio cables from Radio Shack or local music shop or should I look for actual patch cables sold for use with patchbays and modulars? Is there a big difference and is the difference enough to order specific types?
I’m thinking that short 1/4" cables from a local electronics shop would do the trick - but I may be totally wrong.
Any feedback would be much appreciated Many thanks.
Oh - and while I’m asking - what would be a safe number of cables to start out with for a happy and complex amount of experimentation and flexibility? I’m staring at the photo, but am imagining more that I might really need.
short 1/4" would do the trick. do you own any other foogers or patchable gear? more cables the merrier, but 6 or so would keep you pretty happy with just the lp and cp unit.
I have a Synthesizers.com Modular synth and a bunch of effects pedals and I’ve had great success with Synthesizers.com’s patch cables. My radioshack cables (which i paid nearly the same price for) have already crapped out and the dotcom cables are still going strong (for about a year now). I can’t vouch personally for the long-term ruggedness of the dotcom cables but I’ve heard they are built extremely well and last quite long…and so far they have lived up to that.
