I often change some settings in Panel mode, e.g. set Aftertouch to 100% in the 2nd Mod Bus, or change the pitch wheel to +7/-12 half steps. When I start the synth the next day and go to Panel Mode, these settings are often gone (Aftertouch on 2nd Mod Bus is back to 0%, and Pitch Wheel is back to +2/-2).
Btw, not sure why you need my OS info for this… I case I didn’t explain it well: it’s a pure synth problem, and occurs independently of the editor software.
I’ve made similar experience but wasn’t sure whether I remembered corectly. One thing that happened for sure: Sequencer data is lost in Panel mode when Synth is powered off.
Sometimes the Panel mode would also “adopt” settings from presets I selected in between using the Panel.
Changes made to the Panel settings are only stored to permanent memory about a second after you switch OUT of panel mode.
So if you are in Panel mode and you record a new sequence, the only way to save that sequence as a part of the panel sound is to exit panel mode (press the Preset button). at most a second later this data is written to EEPROM and will be recalled after power-on.
Sorry if this isn’t documented clearly, and furthermore it would be nice if this data was automagically saved at all times so you could power off while still in Panel mode without losing anything. These are improvements I’ll definitely consider making in the future.
For now though, exit Panel mode if you want to save the changes you make there*.
additional note: the actual front-panel knob positions aren’t really saved in Panel Mode, only the remaining non-front-panel parameters. The actual knob positions are gotten every time you enter Panel mode, so the sound of the “Panel preset” may change drastically between uses, although the non-knob parameters should be restored to be the same as they were the last time you exited panel mode (provided you switched back to preset mode before turning off the power).
This is quite interesting and good to know! (hope I’ll remember it…)
This is completely clear and as expected.
This is what IME does not work consistently. I definitely had cases where doing something in Panel mode, switching to a couple of Presets and going back to Panel mode lead to a situation where the non-knob parameters were changed in way as if they were adopted from one of the previously selected Presets. E.g. the LFO settings were according to the hardware knobs, but the destinations were different than in the previous Panel mode situation.
I’m sure there’s some secret ingredient I’ve not found out yet which leads to this problem.
