I just bought my LP Stage 1 (with OS 2.0) on Craigslist. When I flip through the presets, each one has the OSC’s out of sync making it hard to hear what the preset would really sound like. Is there a way to change this globally? Should I do a factory reset and would this erase the 2.0 update?
Refer to the Appendix section on Calibration, and you will find complete instructions on how to run the automatic calibration routines which will fully tune the oscillators and pitch bend amounts on your LP.
Once you’ve run the calibrations, all the factory presets should sound as intended.
I tried calibrated OSC 2 and then just did a Factory Restore and the presets still sound out of tune (unlike my friends Tribute edition which sounds normal).
On another note, I notice that if I plug the headphones in while the LP is on, it makes it crash.
Yes, to resolve the problem you describe, you must do a full note calibration.
The OSC2 FREQ calibration only calibrates the osc2 frequency parameter so that it gives a perfect fifth (relative to osc1) when the OSC 2 Freq parameter is at maximum.
Note calibration tunes both oscillator 1 and oscillator 2 to be on pitch for every playable note at every octave setting. It takes a while but it’s worth it (and shouldn’t need to be done very often at all).
Be sure to do the pitch wheel calibration first; then do note calibration, then PW amount, then osc2 freq. Do all calibrations in this order and you should be in good shape.
Not if the pitch wheel calibration was OK to begin with, it won’t.
If not… well, look at it this way. The worst possible scenario is that you have to run Note Cal again later. It’s probably fine though.
edit: Do be sure to do the pitch wheel calibration next, before you do the PW AMOUNT calibration.
To do the Pitch Wheel calibration: select this option, press Enter, select Yes and press Enter… on the next screen you should see three numbers on the lower line of the LCD.
Move the pitch wheel all the way up, then all the way down, then let go and allow the wheel to return to centre. I usually tap once or twice on the case next to the pitch wheel to be sure it’s settled in its resting position. Then press Enter; you’re done and can move on to the next calibration.
