I have a Minimoog Voyager Performer Stage Edition with the Serial No. 2039.
After trying to update my Moog Voyager from system version 2.1 to 3.5 with the SoundEditor I always got the message “ROM Program Error”. I´ve also tried to update with Sysex Librarian to OS 3.4 or 3.5 but I also got the same error message. I used two different Midisport 4x4 (M-Audio) and a mt4 (emagic) Midi interface but that didn´t make any difference. Changing the transmit speed in SysEx Librarian to like 20-30% didn´t help either.
Now my Voyager seems to have some bugs…when I play a recorded sequence in Logic and tweek some knobs on the Voyager the sequence starts to stutter…
Does anyone have an idea what I might be doing wrong or is there another way to update my Voyager?
This is not a bug, this happens when MIDI echoes come back to the Voyager. When you’re using a computer connected on the MIDI input and output you will get this problem. If you really need a computer for making sounds switch off the locals or remove the MIDI input.
BTW it’s a good idea to bring a 7 years old Voyager to a service tech to check the tuning and the upgrades.
Where are you living?
Thanks for your reply. I switched off the locals but that didn´t really help. I have locals off on all my hardware synths (Korg MS2000, Microkorg, NordLead2X, Roland JV-2080, Novation Supernova II) and with all of them I don´t get this weird stuttering thing in Logic. Yesterday I hooked the Voyager up to my Emagic mt4 and suddenly the stuttering was gone and I was able to record MIdi CC´s. So that problem is solved. I have no idea why it´s working now but I´m very happy that it does
And you´re probably right - I should bring the Voyager to a service tech. I live in Berlin…
I´m just wondering what ROM Program Error means because I couldn´t find it in the Moog forum or anywhere else.
