OS 3.5 Update Help

First things first; I did B, then A, C, D …

So here’s the deal; I just picked up a Voyager PE off Craigslist )))

It had 3.3 and I was trying to update it to 3.5. I downloaded the voyager_3_5_keyboard_web.zip from Moog here (http://www.moogmusic.com/sites/default/files/voyager_3_5_keyboard_web.zip)

I unzipped the file to a folder and saw the 4 syx files plus the release notes. I first followed the instructions in the release notes which said:

“…
4. Open or import the file “bank_b_350.syx” into your MIDI SysEx software program.
5. On the Voyager go to Master Mode, cursor down to the ‘RECEIVE UPDATE’ menu and press ENTER. The display screen will prompt: “This will delete the Operating System! Are you sure? (Yes/No)”. Select ‘YES’ and press ENTER. The display screen will then prompt: “Waiting for System Exclusive Data Transfer”.
6. Send the file from your MIDI software to the Voyager. The Voyager will display the progress of the transfer. When the transfer is complete, the Voyager will Display: “The Operating System must be re-loaded. Re-load bank D? Yes/No”. Select Yes.
7. Open or import “bank_d_350.syx” in your MIDI software and send it to the Voyager. The Voyager will display the progress of the transfer. When the transfer is complete, the Voyager will reboot.
…”

From there it goes on to say to load A then C, then D again.

So, following these instructions I loaded B first but it never asked me for D? I then powered off the Voyager and tried again. This time it asked for D but never rebooted. I then went ahead and loaded A and C anyway. The software version showed 3.5 but the first 40 patches in the A bank were just noise and gibberish.

Next, I started looking around here and saw numerous comments about loading B, A, C, D. So, I again loaded B. When it was done it rebooted with the lcd very dark, but never asked for another file. I went ahead and loaded A, but when it was done it asked for D? Not sure what happened to C?

Anyway, I’m not sure what to do now or if the OS was properly installed. The software version display says: 3.5, Release 02/02/2010, Boot Version 3.5. but my Bank A sounds are still screwed.

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thank you,

Flux

Did you back up your sounds before the update??? They will get destroyed during the update and will need to be reloaded.
The sounds are a different load than the OS load and must be backed up before the OS load and reloaded after the OS load.
Try writing a new patch to A and see if it is working.

On the first page of the release notes you can see:
Before you install the new operating system on your Voyager you should backup your
presets – the new version will erase some of the presets stored in RAM.
Once you have saved a copy of any presets you intend to keep, you are ready to
update the firmware on your Voyager.

Have fun,
