That wasn’t my impression. Look at Pot Mapping for example. Now, every time you change any value you can hear the results without leaving that mode, thanks. Or the Mod Wheel, its actual value is used when you change to another preset …
The very new “edited” display (asterisks left and right side) that remembers you to store the preset if you like your changes …
And did you observe that really every pot changes from 0 to 255 (!), never realized before? Very nice improvements, really.
Last not least the “Compare Function” that really does what you can expect from, thanks.
(Maybe I’d forgotten some of the improved features.)

The improvements are welcome, but is it just me or does anybody else feel a little uneasy when you’re required to open up the Voyager for something?
My pitch bend amount didn’t increase after the install but I didn’t notice before and after the V2.1 install it was reading -1. I just changed it back to 0. I know you’re supposed to avoid them, but what do the “ZERO” an “MOD” pots do (for informational purposes only)? I noticed when my mod wheel is all the way down I still get a value of 001. Is it supposed to read 000? All the way up, 255.
Also, I can’t get up to 255 on any front panel pot except the Master and Headphone volumes. Maximum for me is 254.

…and I do think you’re right. OS 2.1 is a pretty cool improvement over OS 2.
I was a bit nervous when I had to install the output thingy for the VX-351. didn’t like the idea of messing with the ribbon connecter in there. that thing was kind of hard to remove, but it was worth it. The VX-351 friggin’ rules!!! Which reminds me…
Yea, it’s cool to open up and see the inner workings, but scarry at the same time. Just don’t want to screw something up 
Does anyone know about the MOD and ZERO pots? And can someone else comfirm the 255 vs. 254 dilema?

the MMV is a real analogue instrument, and if you have a look into an electronic store you’ll see that it isn’t easy to get electronic components with an tolerance less then about 0.1%. Potentiometers you’ll find with such of about 1% or maybe 0.5% (1 digit [missing] out of a range of 0…255 is equivalent to 0.4%!).
I think this it’s kind of characteristic of a real analogue instrument that there stay some differences between different instruments …
That’ s no fault in a common sense.
If you’d tested it before OS 2.1 you should have seen a lot of variations (some pots went from 0 to 250 only) and I think they found a systematic way to improve it a lot.

Thanks Frank. I know I may sound concerned at times, this is just my first experience with a true analog synth.
My updating experience: my Anniversary required a pitch bend adjustment back from +4, but Eeeeevil Signature Voyager #4 was good to go after the 2.1 update. Both had been on for a while before the procedure.

I just updated from 2.0 to 2.1 !
Nice to see those 2.1 fixes (Pot-Mapping) and clearer LCD lables.
The adjusting of the pitchwheel center was a 3 min job for a first timer.
It’s nice to see the trimmers being labled. This makes me belive that an average tech freak will be able to service my Voyager when it will be as old as my 1979 Minimoog.
BTW: Is there a service manual available?
Or a detailed calibration manual?
Just in case… 
I’d like to have one too. It’ll be too expensive to ship the Voyager from Finland for a simple calibration or other service job than to do it locally with a good service manual. I don’t need one yet but I’m going to use the Voyager for years.

I’m too scared to open it. With my luck I’ll really mess the Voyager up. 
I have been meaning to update my Voyager for a few months, I’ll have to get a Midi cable first.
If you are concerned then here is a tip: Have the voyager turned off, then remove the 2 screws, pull out the wood block, pull the metal cover toward you then gently flip the plate up to expose the surface mount trim pots on the underside of the plate pcb, make sure there is no possible way for any shorting out of the components. Once you are sure all is good to go , turn the voyager back on and continue with the procedure. Least that way there is no chance you can mess it up since the unit is off during dissasembly.

yeah u can see 2 screws below the wheels its super easy, took me less than 5 minutes to do the whole procedure, just make sure u have a really small flat headed screwdriver to adjust the pots, like the kind used to fix eyeglasses.

I figure now with os2.1 that you would like to have your sigggy updated, well here is my offer … I live in the N.west Uk and if and when you think that its time for an update and the new soundset..and adjust that PW pot, then i will do it for you, all you have to do is Haul A up here with your siggy and Jobs a good un. Ill even give you a tutorial on the stuff needed to do it as we go along and let you load everything yourself.. Hope this is a help to you.

Question to all Voyager users that updated to OS 2.1:
does your Voyager do the COMPARE function right?
Mine shows some strange characters in the display and sounds like a random sound to me.
(before one ask: Yes, I followed the full upgrade installation when transitioned to from OS 1.4 to OS 2.0 and to OS 2.1 from OS 2.0)
If someone could confirm this strange behavier, I would think of this as a bug. If not, I will keep me cratching my head…
