Old Moog Production Q: Where is the mold for this part?

This is a question for any old-school Moog folks out there, especially former employees or Moog contractors. If you are such a person or you know anyone in that category, please pass this along.

Mike Adams (Moog president & fearless leader) was looking at an old Moog product, the Model MKPE 3-Band Parametric Equalizer. He’s asked if I can find out if anyone knows whether the custom molds to make the side panels for this unit are still in existence. If any former Moog employees or contractors read this and have the faintest clue what might have become of this part (or any other original Moog tooling and dies), please let me know! You can contact me here on the forum or at (amos) at moogmusic dot com. Here are some pictures of the unit and its cool side panels:

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Gotta think Mike Bucki is the obvious first choice…

That isn’t a complicated part. It could be easily sand cast in aluminum.

Yeah, I was thinking that too.

Amos, out of curiousity, how much was the die for the aluminum extrusion used to form the back face of the Little Phatty? That couldn’t have been more than a couple of grand; doing a casting mold would only be a little higher, no?

I would definitely contact Mike Bucki of Modusonics, he rescued a LOT of stuff from Moog Music.

Possibly Roger Luther of Moogarchives.com (he lives a couple of hours from me)

Yes, those rack ears were cool. If you reversed them it turned the unit from a rackmount into a tabletop. No one has done that since, clever design.

Amos if you need samples to make a mold from, I got the parametric EQ and graphic EQ here.
