OK to downgrade to 1.1 ?

I’ve been using a beta version of the Sub 37 firmware.

Can I safety downgrade back to 1.1 – will my patches still be compatible?

Thank you,

-Jon

It should be ok. May I ask why would you need to downgrade ? 1.1.28 will probably also be the release version.

Thanks Gil.

My reason for downgrading is that I’m not sure my sequencer is always in phase with the generated MIDI clock. My music requires that this work perfectly, and I don’t seem to recall having this problem before the beta version.

In this thread: http://forum.moogmusic.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=25262
Sander37 is having the same/similar issue, and Amos states that it will be addressed, but not before the final release of 1.2.

EDIT:
I downgraded to 1.1, and none of the patches that I created since installing the beta worked anymore. They simply made no sound. I tried various parameters, including ‘preset volume,’ but no sound was produced. The factory presets, and patches I made before the beta, worked normally.

I updated to 1.1.28 and it all seems to be working now. I will have to see if I can determine under what conditions I the sequencer was getting out of sync with the clock, because it was not all the time.

It’s an interesting input.

I’m not sure that forward compatibility is something which is expected to work (or supported), but I’ll report it.

Thanks !

Sorry, the “gate source” parameter is defined differently in v1.2.0 versus v1.1.0. The newer firmware converts older-format presets, but old firmware of course cannot convert newer-format presets.

I don’t remember if you could set Gate Source for the volume/filter EGs in the 1.1.0 firmware or not… or if this is only editable in the editor. The editor doesn’t really work with v1.1.0 either though.

If you are talking about the phase of the clock generated by Sub 37, try it in firmware v1.1.30 (which is v1.2.0 in all but name) and see if it’s in-phase enough:

Thanks Amos.

On OS X 10.11.4, I am getting this error when trying to run the auto installer:

‘The application “Sub 37 Firmware Updater 1.1.30” can’t be opened.’

I can try a manual install if you’d like, or I can just wait for the next build of the installer. The previous auto installers (1.1.0, 1.1.16, 1.1.28) ran correctly on this same computer (though I had to bypass GateKeeper on some of them).

the installer is not official or important for v1.1.30, really you just need to (boot to the boatloader and then) manually send “step 2.syx” to test the sync between arpeggiator and internally-generated MIDI clock. Sorry for the confusion with the 1.1.30 OSX installer; just disregard it for now. I was just making a quick build to test this improvement, so I didn’t properly sign the installer.

I installed 1.1.30 manually and in my brief test everything seems in sync. I’m going to keep working with it and I’ll post back in a bit with any further info.

Thanks very much !!

I used 1.1.30 for quite a while this afternoon/evening. Normally playing for that long I would have come to a point where my (Nord Lead) arpeggiators were out of phase with the Sub 37, but everything worked well. I’m sorry, but I didn’t have a list of steps to reliably reproduce the problem originally. I tried all the songs and sequences of actions that used to eventually result in phase problems, and I had no such problems today. So I’m pretty confident that it’s working well.

Thanks so very much for addressing this!
