I’ve had my LP for about 4 months now, and the octaves have never been quite in tune with each other. For instance, if I tune the LP so that C1 is in perfect tune, then C2 is a tad flat (maybe about 3-6 cents) and the higher octaves a bit more out of tune, about 9-12 cents. The tuning doesn’t really wander or so slightly that it doesn’t matter in auto-tune but the tuning still isn’t quite right in the higher octaves. I’ve heard that these kind of minor tuning issues are common with analogs, but on the other hand many say that their LP’s don’t have any kind of issues with tuning.
I’ve tried calibrating my LP a few times, and it seemed to help a little, but didn’t get me rid of the problem entirely. So I guess what I’m asking is that is this normal for the LP.
I let my LP warm up and still get tuning drift across octaves. Not much but it’s definately there. I don’t fly all over the place so it’s not a huge issue. If I’m using the LP for bass I’m in one region of the keyboard, leads I’m in another. Rarely would I need to jump from low to high. I wish it wasn’t an issue though. I have a stage 1 running OS 2.21, not sure if that matters.
I let my LP warm at least 15 minutes before I play it, and often even longer, so that shouldn’t be the issue.
And it’s true that when recording this isn’t such an issue as you can tune the LP according to the octave in use, but when I jam and mess around with my friends and use the whole range the tuning issue can be heard.
