Does anyone have any tips that they might be able to share as far as sequencing the Voyager or Phatty or even the Taurus? I just did my first sequence earlier today and had a blast.
Right now Im using garageband. Im supposed to be getting a copy of Logic Pro here soon though.
What I want to be able to do is to Use the Murf Software to program a nice 8 bit style beat with a noise source, and then Sequence the Taurus and lead with the Voyager.
I just got started with numerology today so if anyone has some tips or tricks that they might be able to share Id appreciate your input.
I’m not an expert in garage band and midi questions. And my comments may not helpful to you therefore. But I could manage to combine my Voyager with Garage Band (MACBOOK PRO, Leopard) via a simple M-Audio UNO USB-MIDI interface. I could transfer the Voyager sound into the MAC and could control also the standard midi sounds from Garage Band via the Voyager keyboard (on a different track). However some difficulties I’ve observed when I tried to change the Voyager sounds (tweaking knobs) during Voyager and Garage Band communication (sometime it just stops and went into an idle mode). But after resetting (switch off and on the Voyager) it worked again.
I also have Logic but honestly it seems to comprehensive for me at the moment. And I really don’t like the USB-dongle philosphy at all.
No dongle for 8 or 9, but more “how do I make daft punk beatz with my Logic softwarez” questions on the forums. Check out logicprohelp.com Awesome forum.
thanks for the replies. So far as the dongle issue is concerned I agree with the considerations of piracy probabilities involved herewith. However I don’t like dongles because it is possible that the dongle gets broken (it is not just an USB stick) and with a hub (which I already use) I’ve investigated some limitations in reliability with the MAC (with both Leopard and XP (by boot camp installation)). And maybe a psychological impact in addition. I purchased Logic legally from my local shop and will use it only by myself. I always feel a little supervised and observed by a colossus, MCP or HAL system herewith.
Yeah I think there is a deffinant psychological impact on using dongle-protected software. Since Logic is mac-only, the computer basically acts as the dongle, which is good. However Native Instruments and Arturia both have the worst registration systems ever!
Hm, I have an Arturia MiniMoog and an Arturia Modular. Both just requires the serial number during the installation. Really no problems on my XP-machines (Toshiba, Packard Bell or Macs). And with the Leopard I needed an upgrade from Arturia which I easily could download (telling the serial number). But it is difficult to burn a safety copy.
And I don’t have experiences with the latest versions from them. Is there anything I should be aware of?
I love Numerology! But I’d really recommend that you get a Novation/Ableton Launchpad controller for it. They’re not all that expensive ($199, IIRC), and are really fun to program with. My daughter & I were having a jam w/ it yesterday (Launchpad > Numerology running the mono step seuencer > Voyager) that was pretty awesome! One of us would be tweaking the Moog while the other was on the Launchpad (we took turns…)
That does seem like it would be very much easier. Im finding it difficult to really dial in some pitches in betwen the bars, like specific halfsteps or other intervals using the big cursor, or my finger on the trackpad.
Im loving what the demo mode can do but Id really like to see the full version and have more modules so that I could sequence the Voyager and T3 together or various filtering sequences.
I might consider that, but Id have ti weigh…Phaser vs launchpad.
Hey Eric, i would happily sell you my launchpad, perfect condition with box and manuals. I’m on my phone right now so I’ll pm you when I get back to my laptop.
