I’m assuming you have an amp, right? So now you need to turn knobs and play with switches until you get a sound. Make sure your amp is turned on first, though. ![]()
and the only sound i get is tapping…
i’m wondering if i need something else???
No…you don’t need anything else, if everything is in perfect working order. What are you playing with, and what are your settings?
when i tried the rogue a few weeks back
i played it through a pa
just recieved the prodigy and micro and i’m assuming the same might happen.
wasn’t sure if i needed some kind of modular stuff, sequencers??? that kind of product
No, all that should work fine on its own. There is a learning curve, though, so just practice messing with the knobs, and eventually you’ll be sounding like Rick Wakeman. Once you figure out how to get sounds out of your gear, you can practice hooking stuff together via CV. ![]()
Welcome to the forum and major props on the collection there!
LOL!
Man this “No sound” problem plagued my micro for years.
Try turning everything counter clockwise. THen turn the filter controls past 12:00, volume past 12:00, bypass switch off.
Make sure all the switches are all the way to the left. THis shoudl get you a sound.
You should be able to find manuals here if you scrape the surface a bit.

thanks for the input

gotta get sounding like jan hammer though
Oh yeah and please post some pics!
Eric
won’t tonite but tomorrow i might
Oh,
If you get any of the current Foogers like the Ringmod or Freqbox, in order to accurately control them via voltages, youll need the attenuator on the Cp251 in order for them to properly scale.
Eric
a repair tech?
better start practicing. jan hammer can sound great on a cheap-o casio
Here’s a link to a MicroMoog manual I Googled up for you:

Use it to learn your MicroMoog.Once you do that the others will be easy! ![]()
Best of luck!
I think I need to play the devil’s advocate here. If you’ve never used and don’t know how to use a synth why would you go out and buy a whole bunch of them? Why would you buy all the same brand and a whole bunch of basic models? Assuming you paid going rates and you’re obviously excited about the moog brand, why not just buy a mini? I think in your current state you are a broken synth sellers wet dream.
Actually, if any of those are really broken they will just need some TLC. NOthing that can’t be fixed.
Get them running and thats a nice museum. Id love to have all of those. Memory/poly included. Headaches included.
…hmmm, y’all think maybe he’s putting us on? … I mean, he mentions “modular stuff”, then jan hammer, lists a bunch of the typical must-have vintage gear, and says he gets no sound? Come on, if it’s just one synth, yeah, maybe the filter is all the way down, but that situation times four? … hey, I’ll be happy to be wrong here, but somehow…
It does seem like a troll and if someone said “oh, I just bought an Sh-1, SH-2, SH-3a, SH09 and an SH-101. How do I make soundz?” I would say for certainty it was a troll. However, since it is Moog I wouldn’t be surprised if some jackass decided to jump in head first and buy everything with moog on it. Don’t get me wrong, I own 2 moogs and I like moog but I’m really tired of the whole fanboy nonsense. There is no logical reason beyond collecting all things moog, that a person would need to buy 5 entry level synths of the same brand. I know this board is generally very positive and nice and I’m not trying to be a jerk but this thread begs for a common sense check… whether it’s real or not.
otto, I was thinking the same thing. I had the chance to buy a Micro and a Prodigy. I wish I’d bought the Micro, but I’m glad I didn’t get the Prodigy. As for the fanboy nonsense, well, I kinda fall into that category. I’ll certainly look to Moog before other brands, but Synths.com and Future Retro both make stuff I’m interested in. My whole rig right now is Moog, but in the future it won’t be. At least I figured out how to get sounds out of a Prodigy after playing around for five minutes. ![]()
EDIT-look again at the first post. Opus 3 is separated from the synths that “don’t make noise”. He says he’s got a Satellite on the way, which is the weakest Moog ever built. The whole post screams TROLL.
the rogue worked the next time i used it (played it out of a amp, instead of the pa) (and checked the cutoff…)
yes i also have a minimoog. the have a different feel to them thus far but yes, I’ve just begun to scratch the surface and am new to playing moogs.
