NON-Moog related - Korg X911

I know this isn’t moog-related, but there really isnt a section on the forum for non-moog stuff(which makes sense)… but i figured you’d all be a good crew to ask.

Anyone ever use/hear the Korg X911 guitar synthesizer? If so, does it sound any good? Thanks.

I have one.

The tracking is’nt very good but it sounds fantastic when you run a drum machine through it.

The X-911 is from the MS series so the filter is pretty great. Too bad it doesn’t have a resonance control.

I’m also a big modular fan so running it with my Voyager/MOTM/Blacet system can create some awesome things.

thanks for the feedback. ever use it with a guitar?

i’m guessing it would sound very messy, especially if you turned the glide on, trying to follow those notes in realtime.

Yes I did try it with a guitar. The sounds would sputter from the X-911 since the tracking was so poor. I use Fenders, perhaps using a humbucker equipt guitar would bring better results.

Tracking is the major problem with guitar synths, and always has been.

I believe I have a solution to the problem. But when I e-mailed Moog and asked to talk with them I didn’t receive a reply. Maybe if they’re monitoring this forum this topic will remind them.

I’m talking with another big-league synth company tomorrow about something else. Perhaps I’ll mention it to them while we’re talking anyway. It’d be good to solve this problem at long last.

i think the tracking is fine for slow playing. it also has a distortion and wah apart from the synth section. sadly the resonance of the wahfilter is set in three steps.
got CV-in and outs which is great
