Any chance there is some way of using CV and a controller to get a reverse delay? I realize this is near impossible, but thought I’d ask for the sake of discussion 
I don’t think so, as you only have control over the delay time, not which direction the voltage in the delay chip is read. I’m don’t think I’ve seen any analog delays that do reverse delay, though it is theoretically possible.
You can get some pretty interesting sounds by putting other effects in the loop or automating the delay time or mix controls. A ring mod doing tremolo sounds in the loop with some sample and hold control can do some great ‘glitch’ sounds, for example.
