I have noticed that with my midi murf the highest filter is much quieter than the other filters. I do not think this is due to a lack of harmonic content, because when comparing the 1.8K filter in bass mode to the 1.5k and 2.2k filters in mids mode the filter is still much quieter. I have even tried tuning an oscillator to the frequency of the filter. When using the midi editor the filter does not get any louder past the cc value 7, but all of the other filters do. Either this is a code issue which should affect all midi murfs, mine has a defect, or this is intentionally part of the design. I would greatly appreciate it if someone confirms how the highest filter of their murf functions, because if mine is defective I would like to exchange it before my return period expires.
But, if memory serves me correct and with feeding it dynamic content with ressonance peaks I find the 2nd to highest to be a lot louder, but I find the highest sits pretty well with the others.
Indeed I am enjoying the murf. It’s great. The murf brings order to my fooger rig, which previously consisted of just a mf-102 and mf-107. I’m so glad that I bought it instead of the phaser because not only can it do swirly phaser-ish sounds, but it can also be used for drum tracks, and as I don’t have a drum machine that’s very useful. Of course now I find that I want another one so I can use bass and mids at the same time to create either more complex rhythms, or some kind of quadraphonic swirly mind funk.
I used It on everything except the phatty on this song, which I have already posted in the phatty forum, but since it’s relevant to the murf I’ll put it here too. This is nothing but phatty, foogers, guitar, and radio static, line in, clean. http://soundcloud.com/questionmark_and_sharp/monos-better
Thank you both (Sir Nose and EricK) for listening to my song, I’m glad you guys liked it. It’s one of my first attempts at multi tracking because now I have a computer fast enough to handle it. I tried a couple years ago, but that was no good, way too much latency.
Good idea, EricK, thanks. I always have found your demos to be some of the more useful ones when looking for fooger demos. It’s nice to not just hear mix on 10 with a percussive pattern on a guitar, but now I think I need a taurus.
