No Changes Saved in Presets (0.9.41, 1.1.21)

Just had a rather frustrating experience with the Editor/Librarian v0.9.41 and Firmware 1.1.21:

I did about 2.5h sound design session. I loaded a standard init preset (B14 P09) and started tweaking. First I dialed a basic hard sync sound and played around until that was really cool and screaming. Then I started trying out different MOD sources and destinations and came across a couple of very cool new interesting sounds. Every now and then I saved the current status with the Editor (Save As), which always worked in the last days.

But today, it did not work as expected. And I only realized that when I wanted to load back one of my previously saved states. I tried to load it, and nothing happened. The Sub 37 didn’t respond and still had the B14P09 Init Preset with stars in its display, and the sound was not changed. I tried with a couple of other saved presets, same. Then I started to compare the saved settings in the Editor visually, and they looked suspiciously identical. After that I restarted the Editor, which told me after the restart it had no connection to the Sub 37! Yikes! Quit the editor. Reloaded B14P09 on the Sub 37, loosing all my settings, and restarted the Editor. Which then could see the Sub 37 and everything seemed fine. It also allowed me to load any saved Preset.

However, none of my saved Presets of today contained any of my tweakings – they were all identical to the Init Preset.

Edit: No, identical among them, but different from the Init Preset. I try to find out more…

I will check this locally. Meanwhile reported as high priority. Thanks for the detailed report.

Thanks Gil.
As an additional note: It happened again later on. It seems that the Editor can lose the connection to the hardware due to unknown reasons. What I can tell is that it happened when I did not touch the computer for over 10-15 minutes but worked on the hardware only. Both times I had this happen, the Mac OS X energy saver feature had kicked in and switched off the monitor screens. However, the Mac was not in sleep mode!

Will check this out too, thank you.

Hi Gil

I’m now pretty sure that it is due to the Mac OS X Energy Saver settings: I thought I had Computer Sleep set to “off”, but it was also on “10min”, same as Monitor Sleep. And the Editor wouldn’t reconnect to the Sub 37 after waking up from sleep.

The reconnection issue seems to be solved with 0.9.42. But you need to click on “Capture Hardware” in order to get the Editor fetch the current state of the hardware after waking up.

There were improvements made that should get it working on 0.9.43, will you be able to confirm ?

We will post it soon. Thanks.

Tried with 0.9.43.

Editor is still connected to the Sub 37 after Computer Sleep, but I need to click on “Capture Hardware” to fetch the current state of the of the hardware. (Tested with in Panel mode).

This means you do not need to to restart the Editor or the Synth for the connection to still work , after the computer has been put to sleep and awakened ?

Is it working when both having put to sleep by closing the lid, and when put automatically by Energy Saver ?

Confirmed. Works in both situations. And sometimes even without clicking on “Capture Hardware”!

Cheers ! Thanks.
