I like the muse a lot!! I think it needs a little polishing, and I was thinking we should make a hopeful wish list of things we would like to see someday. So post your little pet peeves about the muse here. I’ll start.
The value encoder needs so much travel when switching an on off parameter! make an option for more sensitivity please, for changing settings or scrolling through mod destinations.
When link filters is active, I would love an option to link the envelope amounts of the filters too.
Totally agree! The Muse is such a powerful tool, but I also find the encoder travel to be a bit excessive. Having more sensitivity would be super helpful. And linking the envelope amounts of the filters?
The LED on the modulation frequency knob appears to just show how far the knob is turned up, not the state of the wave like the other LFOs.
On both the filter and the delay, when the link button is pressed, adjusting the left knob still shows the value on the screen as if it is not linked. It should either show the new value as it is offset from knob 2, or show the % of offset from knob 2, as the way it is now is completely unhelpful.
See this topic: “Is the ‘hold shift to fine tune a parameter’ feature completely useless for others?”
Fine tuning is difficult and display does not show enough numeric resolution, For example 0% versus 0.003, for audio
oscillator offsets.
In mod matrix units are not defined, if I want to direct an LFO square wave to an audio oscillator, to raise it an octave, what value do I set–seems to be around 20.83 (from memory). Why this value for an octave? Muse manual does not state units for many things. Also manual does not state that only certain sources can not be sent to certain destinations. For example may sources can not be sent to CV outs.
From the manual “NOTE: TUNING removes all QUICK TUNE data and as such should not be run unless there are significant tuning issues since measurements saved by running QUICK TUNE improve your instrument’s tuning and performance.”
However, “significant” is not defined.
Not a nit. Would like to have a quantize function in the mod matrix.
Make it so the delay functions are in the Mod Matrix.
Would be really nice to be able to send an LFO to the delay time. I’m able to do that with the Matriarch and its magical.
I have noticed something very annoying, can someone please check if this behavior is just my unit? When using full keyboard tracking or mod matrix keyboard tracking, the envelope knob does not work as well, or go up as far. The 1-1 keyboard tracking was really bad on mine when playing the filter at full resonance, but after a full tune and cal it seems to be fine. But still, the envelope amt and cutoff knobs dont go their full when keyboard tracking is on. Additionally, when adding keyboard tracking in the mod matrix, the right amount for 1-1 keyboard tracking seems about 70, not 100. is this just my unit? I know moog uses some subtractive keyboard tracking, or maybe a different center key for keyboard tracking, so its not the same as say the p10 where the key tracking adds to the cutoff, but what is the intended behavior here? is my unit just wonky or are others noticing the filter cutoff responding weirdly when there is tracking? it seems that there is some limit to the max modulation of the cutoff that can be applied, that should work but the filter should still be able to open all the way! I am hoping its just my unit
