newer CP-251s with active attenuators question...

Hi all,

Do the newer CP-251s with active attenuators (white rings around the black jacks that have +5V for pedals) allow the following?

I like to invert the keyboard CV back into filter cutoff (like the CP manual suggests) for duller high note sounds…presently I use key CV into an input on the mixer (EP-2 into another input) but then I take the - output back to the Filter input on the Voyager…the only bummer is I need to use the mixers on both of my CP-251s (older red jack ones) to be able to have a normal toe-opens filter/heel-closes filter pedal action…

If I used the “active” attenuator set to -5 position, would that invert my keyboard CV???

Thanks,

Yes it would, but why not try Pot Mapping instead? Select one of the four available maps and program it as follows:

Source: Key Pitch
Destination: Fil Cutoff
Direction: Inverse
Amount: 25% (or 50%, or 100%)

This map will invert the keyboard CV to the filter, making the sound duller as you play higher up on the keyboard.

Hope it helps. - G

Thanks Greg,

I forgot to mention that I also do this on my Model D…I guess I’ll have to add a new CP-251 to my wishlist based on your answer!

Happy to help! I’m sure you’ll find lots of uses for the CP-251 both with the V’ger and the “D”.

Don’t forget that you can also use the inverted output from the CP-251’s mixer to flip a signal from positive to negative. Darn handy kit!
