New tune I'm working on!!

This is something I’m working on right now. The vocals were done by this girl who supposedly could sing. When she got here, she was no good. I didn’t get 1 bar of in tune singing. Originally I thought autotune was for T-pain and Cher only, (LOL) but found myself needing to use it. I spent hours cutting and pasting, time stretching, and syncing the autotune to a miditrack containing the notes that she was actually suppose to hit. It created something o.k., although not extremely polished. Whatevs, have a listen and let me know what you think so far.

Nice job! Autotune has its uses…not many, mind you, but a few. :wink: The autotune actually fits the song, as it adds a mechanical resonance to the vocals that fit with the overall vibe.

That wasn’t Betsy M. singing, was it? Sounds like her only she always could hit the notes when I knew her.

I think the moral of the story is that AUDITION TAPES RULE!

How does she feel about her vocals being morphed and what would you do if she was insisting that she was singing purposefully off key to sidestep?

I think she was embarassed when I played back her vocals at the time of recording. Yeah, my buddy told me he knew someone who could sing. Needless to say, she couldn’t. I sang and recorded to see how much autotune pulled my notes into position and it wasn’t near as bad as hers. Before adjusting settings with autotune, and playing a miditrack to sync to, it was pulling her notes to the nearest note which was still off by a few!

nice tune though and I think you did what any good producer would do and made it work.

I feel bad for people who think they can sing and really can’t…especially when they find out for themselves the hard way. Poor girl. :frowning: I KNOW I can’t sing well…but I have an awesome metal voice. :smiley:
