"New Synth Prototype"...?

From Moog’s facebook page:

“Folks are already showing up in Asheville for Moogfest 2012. Here’s synth pioneer Herbert A. Deutsch calling his wife to tell her about the synth prototype we’re showing him in the Moog Sound Lab.”

let the speculation begin..

well, of COURSE it’s a poly! :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t know about that…

But for an 80 years old guy, Herb still looks in great shape! I hope to be able to still play my synths when I get to be that age (another 33 years…).

A mini mini D, complete ripoff of the monotron

I was hoping that, over the course of Moogfest, they would have unveiled the thing, or at least given us a bit more info on the new instrument. Looks like things are still pretty hush-hush unfortunately. Moogfest isn’t over yet, though, so here’s to hoping!

So, did any Moogfest attendees get a peek of the prototype???

No I was asking questions but they were pretty tight lipped. I really had to dig to get them to acknowledge the LEV 96

Why in the hell would a company put something on the web about the lev 96 and then not tell people about it?

They did the same crap with the lap steel, the product came out with virtually no fanfare.

There was the AES San Fran conference going on at the same time as Moogfest where they announced the 500 series delay, and still little fanfare. They will put pictures of a Lunar Slim on their facebook page and we haven’t heard anything about it.

Chris Stack, if you are reading this, will you teach a thing or two to your successor about how to generate excitement about a new product?

There will be a fair amount of excitement about what Herb saw.

But the LEV is astounding.

The excitement is building simply because no one knows what this stuff is, EricK!

I wouldn’t say it’s exactly excitement… For the LEV anyway.

But rather a bit of curiosity mixed with a little frustration at all the fake secrecy…

WHAT DID HERB SEE???

“Hey, honey. Yeah it has a gold panel and miniature shower faucet handles.”

No, actually I can’t wait to see it.

I wish I wasn’t such a giddy fanboy when I met herb so I could have asked him about it…

this is the face of excitement.

i’m still not feelin’ it, tho.

I hope they sell those and make money to develop something that’s useful to people who can’t afford a musical gold brick and have better taste.

Timmy, I’d think of another adjective to describe that face, but I’d receive a backlash from groups who frown upon usage of the “r-word”.

“a musical gold brick”

heh heh - its all good. i’m very happy for Moog to celebrate their anniversary.

I felt the urge to start an internet meme by photoshopping in other unrelated items in place of the Mini. items such as a worn shoe, a plate of tacos, illustration of a black hole in space, a miniature train set, a rubiks cube, the “i like turtles” kid, etc.

someone should start that meme. instant viral.

YES! I might steal that idea
