Need some help with my final year project!

Hi there, I am an Under grad Audio and Video Engineering student at the University of Glasgow. I recently had to choose a project for my dissertation and I chose to do one on the Moog VCF. What I have to do is refine the design so the VCF is no longer sensitive to changes in temperature and therefore stays in tune, however I am having trouble finding the required schematics for the MiniMoog Model D’s VCF. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated!

No one?!

Hello,

my masters degree was on the Minimoog, but not from an EE’s point of view, although I had to mentioned the VCF and explain in musical terms why it sounds the way it sounds.

You will find a lot of schematics for the Minimoog if you search the Internet. Lots of these are simplified versions and there are lots of schematics with typos. For my own dissertation I went with a simplified version, mainly because it was the easiest to understand for people who had a musical and not a EE background. I suggest that you ask Kevin Lightner or Michael Caloroso for a pdf - they are here in this forum and it’s most likely that they will have the schematics. Kevin was very helpful and he explained a lot of “dark” areas.

If you want simplified versions, or if I can be of further help, just ask!

Best of luck.

Google what you need. All this stuff is easy to find. Hint : Start with the US patent registration office.

These shoudl be able to direct you to whatever you need. Hope this is what you were looking for.

Eric

No Eric, he wants someone to do the work for him! Seems there is someone on every forum I’m a member of looking for someone to give them the info they need to do their thesis. You would think a kid in the age of the internet, would know how to search it! (Me, I can still find the hard copy in the college libraries!)

No I wasnt wanting anyone to do the work for me. I had trouble finding a schematic so I came here…which seemed like an obvious place to ask. Its very easy to find a schematic of a Moog VCF but I needed a specific model which I couldnt find. So thankyou Eric and everyone else and Just Me GFY! I have been trawling through research papers for the last week learning the mathmatics behind the filter and if you’re so effing good at finding things maybe you could of helped? Why does the Internet turn people into arseholes?!
