Need help updating firmware 3.1

Hi guys I am having trouble updating my little phatty to 3.1. Its a stage 2 with CV outputs. Serial is SE 03044

Wanting to update to get the cool new features with the ARP, LFO Trigger etc like I saw AMOS do on the Youtube Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-38Rrd9bsQ

I am using Phattyloader stage 680, I have a Macbook Pro, 10.6.8 OS, Connecting to phatty via USB

Following all the installer instructions, sending in different data sizes and speeds to see if that makes a difference.

FW Update is turned ON

Phatty loader is saying it is sending the packets, but nothing is happening on the phatty screen, no activity when updating the firmware. I am not getting this to Happen “Receiving… Record #” 1, 2, 3.." < Apparently this means it is updating???

I have sent 3 emails too moog and have not replied once! I own a phatty and voyager and pretty pissed off I am getting no support!

hey you have to be in bootloader mode to receive firmware… power on with the MASTER button held in, then you should see “Erase Firmware? Preset = Yes” or something like that… press Preset to confirm, it will erase firmware, then you can send new firmware via the phatty loader.
Then you should get the “receiving” bit to occur…

if you are still on firmware v2 then there is a v2-to-v3 update which you’ll need to send first. you can find it here:

Thanks for getting back so quickly amos…

I tried holding in the master button on bootup and was not able to get anything happening.

I have O.S. 2.00S

Any other way of trying things…

Sorry, I missed that you were still on OS v2! That’s the whole issue right there.

There is a special v2 to v3 update. You don’t have the bootloader on there yet, that’s why it’s not behaving according to my instructions (which were written for v3.0 to v3.1 update).

You can download the v2 to v3 update from the Moog website:

download the appropriate file from the link above and read the included “v2-v3 update instructions.”

the key first step is the “v2 to v3 update” and right before you send it, you need to go to the Master Menu, System Utilities, and set FW UPDATE: ON.

Cheers got it working… i think before I came to this forum i did not read the instructions step by step… once i installed sysex libarian and installed bootloader it worked followed by the firmware! :smiley: smiles allround.

Before I initially thought i could just install the firmware and that was it. I thought the bootloader was for non usb users.
