My friend wants to build an LFO

Are there any good kits out there?

Thanks!

He might just go ahead and look for a high quality Oscillator board, because any Osc worth its snuff would serve as a dedicated LFO anyway, at least thats according to synthesizers.com.

Interesting point. Any kits that you’d recommend? He is in a DIY mode.

Then you could scratch one up yourself with a 555, using the info from here:

Sine wave:

LFO’s are easy, they don’t have to track and don’t have to be really stable.
I bet you could gin a simple one up for less than $5.

Heres a VC LFO

Heres a Paia VCO/LFO

I don’t know anything about DIY. I can barely tin the tip of my soldering iron. From what little ive seen, synthesizers.com is onle of the only ones that offer the Osc/VCO. Some of the other companies are 1 or the other. I haven’t really seen too many companies though. I looiked at MOTM COTK and PAIA.

SOmeone else may very well know.

Eric

He found a schematic online and built an LFO based off of the 555 chip. We tried it out yesterday with my self-oscillating MF-101.

Next step is a keyboard controller:
