This was a project I did a few years back for a class. The project was to redo the audio for a movie scene, dialogue, foley, and score. A previous project was to do the same with a video game trailer, but I’m not into video games, so I couldn’t do a very good job and my project was crap. So for this project, I am very much into film so I knew I could pick something to destroy (or to at least be different from) all the mainstream hollywood movies others picked. So I decided to splice together some early David Lynch short films from a period where he was basically doing film art rather than actual movies (his later work is still film art, but more in movie format). I took long mic lines and went outside to record dogs barking and ambient noises, and did some foley myself around the house. I recorded myself doing some weird vocals on top of mellotron, minimoog and ARP solina drones going through space echo and an analog Neve tape simulator (which I also used for the “screams”).
The project was a hit and I blew everyone else’s projects away. I just got around to uploading yesterday.
