Murf paperweight

Hey guys,

i have made some irrational moves here and i’m hoping it hasn’t cost me :frowning:

bought a moog mf-105 from the US, i live in Australia. so i tried my gator power ‘brick’ supply and nothing happened… so then instead of just waiting and buying the appropriate adapter i plugged the US adapter into a travelers ‘conversion’ adapter. for about 30 seconds to a minute i had it all lit up and murfing away…

and then it just cut out… now back to no lights or sounds

so i’m wondering if i’ve just killed the power supply or damaged the moog. i don’t know what to do other than yell at it and myself for long periods of time, but this doesn’t seem to power it either.

any suggestions?

Did it overheat?

I went to the Philippines with an electric razor…knowing better than to try to plug it in without a converter, but I did it anyway because I was expecting an asian style power connector. THe outlet was identical to ours so I just tried it. It charged, then got really hot. Then never worked again.

My cousin also fried his freqbox power supply. The lights stayed on constantly with no input signal but it didn’t do anything.

It was nothing that Moog couldn’t fix, so just contact them and sent it back or to an authorzed dealer.

In the meantime I switched to str8 razor shaving.

Cool thanks for the reply,

there was no drama, sparks, or even temperature from the moog. the power supply felt quite hot considering how long it was plugged in for.

i’ll order the right power supply, see what happens, and if need be send it off and hope it won’t cost an arm and a leg.

Try a new PSU; you may have had 18 VDC going into your MuRF though… :frowning:

If it’s truly broken I’m happy to pinch it off you, though it would be nice to get it working.

WHen I went to the Philippines my adaptor didn’t even work at all. The only way I got any power was with a transformer.

I I have left Foogers on for long periods of time before and the plugs never felt really hot. The power supply inside might be fried. I don’t think it woul’d be THAT expensive for repairs, but shipping would suck.

Surely there is a distributor there that is also a repair center? I
