Everything was working great since I made today a fresh reinstall of Win10 Pro 64bit, after the Creator’s update… Now I can’t install the drivers because they have no numeric signature…
Please HELP!!!
MR79, please see this old comment about what’s may be needed to make it work. It’s written for Windows 7 but is known to fix similar issues on Windows 10:
It is still the case that our driver uses SHA-2 security for code signing, which can create a problem for Windows 7 users unless they have performed the necessary Windows Update first (to add SHA-2 compatibility to Windows itself, which Win7 did not ship with originally). More info about this below:
Without the update, the driver will seem to install but will not run; if the device driver status is checked, you get an error message saying that the driver “cannot be authenticated”.
If the USB driver does not work or has any errors, you may need to install the specific Windows Update which enables SHA2 code signing. Below are some helpful links to resolve this:
And if all else fails you can delete all the Windows Update temporary files, (located in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore and C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore), reboot Windows, and run Windows Update again, telling it to check online for new updates. This should find any missing updates for you to install.
It’s a limitation. Do the GUI knobs move when controlled by the hardware, and vice versa ?
Is this issue is Snow Leopard only or happen on other systems too ?
Only in 10.6.8 or on other OS’s too ?
Limitation.
Works for me here in OSX Standalone. Please delete MTRE preferences, GET, reset everything to defaults, set to Relative and try again.
Does it happen on Standalone? Plugins (and which)? both ? all OS’s? I’m missing some info…
This is the only test which I haven’t done yet. I am unsure how to delete MTRE preferences
Regarding everything else, I can confirm what I said on my last post.
The only thing that puzzles me is why I need to create an extra MIDI Track inside Live for Note messages on both macs. I don’t need to on pc and it’s a breeze.
I should remind here that when I use the current Sub Phatty editor, I must do it on both.
Now I understand what was going on with the relative mode. It does work, on all systems, as long as I use a controller which uses the internal protocol for bidirectional communication in Live.
For the record: the OP-1, Push and the Minitaur were able to show the values on screen. They also worked fine with Relative mode. But, the Sub Phatty and the Voyager did not. The values jump to the value sent from these units, even in Relative mode, and they are never shown on screen. They do modify the sound.
These seems to behave exactly the same on all OSs
Sorry if I caused any confusion.
The only doubt I still have regarding the Editor is why I have to use a second channel for sending note messages on mac OSs, but not on Windows. Is this what we expect here? Or is there a bug in Live I should contact Ableton support to help me with?
I don’t think it’s a bug, and whatever the reason for this is, I don’t think we can change it. We really maxed out all MTRE capabilities with this release (I think). So use one, or two tracks, or whatever configuration that makes it work well for you… There are probably more than one or two way to utilize it in different DAWs.
In Ableton and Windows you also need TWO midi tracks to properly use the new functions of the editor as the presets name changing and knobs moving when making program changes in Ableton. You can’t do that with only one midi track with just the editor VI on it… And it is the only complaint I can do to Gil and all the staff who is working really hard for us!!!
I referred all the time to a second track only for note messages. since I rarely use presets, I never noticed what you are saying on this regard.
I understand that this could be a workaround to the problem I mentioned regarding the Relative mode with an external unit such as Sub Phatty or Voyager?
It seems now I get exactly what is going on, and there is no bug at all, maybe some things that should be made clear once the documentation is finished.
By the way, great work Amos and Gil!! Moog rocks all the way!
Regarding the two channel issue in Live, guess I am not able to report it to them until the new Editor/Firmware is officially released, since this does not happen with the Sub Phatty or Sub 37 Editors.
They both need a second channel both on Windows and Mac in order to let you play notes on them. Only the Minitaur editor lets one play with the synth right away, as soon as you load the plugin version of the editor.
Is this something you worked on? An OS condition? Ableton Live’s issue?
There is no “issue” to report, it’s just how it works. What MR79 refers to is using VSTi on a single Midi track as an Instrument, to have the settings on panel change when sending program changes.
