I’m not at liberty to discuss the details of the Multipedal here (no, I’m not being coy - I’m under an NDA). I can tell you that Moog’s engineers are working furiously to iron out the last of the software issues and test the OS for full functionality before it ships out.
If history is any indication, the Multipedal will be released with a solid, baseline operating system, and then the Moog guys will work to add more features and improve functionality through a series of OS upgrades (like they continue to do for the Voyager and LP). I’m sure that all past/present/future user comments will be considered for any upgrades (Moog has always listened to user’s suggestions regarding their products - Bob wouldn’t have it any other way!).
The Multipedal is a very cool piece of gear - there’s really nothing like it in the marketplace. You should plan to spend a bit of time with it up-front to learn how to get the most out it with your Voyager, Little Phatty or Moogerfoogers (and don’t forget to RTFM - Read The Fine Manual). Your patience here will be rewarded!
Greg do you know if you can assign pitch out to one of the mp-201’s cv outs when it’s midied to a lp so I could take that pitch out jack and patch it to the freq cv input on my mf 107 then osc out to audio in on the lp so i can use the 107 as a third oscillator all while not having the pedal engaged, just controlling that nice oscillator with out all the distortion(not that distortion is bad, this would make the 107 much more functional for me)I suppose the way a voyager with a vx-351 could control it as a clean 4th oscillator. since you wrote the lp manual I guess the real question would be does the lp have a pitch out midi cc number? Your thoughts on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
I’ve read through the manual, and I didn’t see anything about a MIDI/CV converter. Indeed, this was one of the first questions we were asking of the MP-201 back when it was announced.
Like GregAE said in a previous post, perhaps this will come about as a firmware/software update when the unit is more established.
You’re asking if the Multi-Pedal can be used as a MIDI/CV converter. It does not currently function that way, as Latigid On correctly states. While this capability would be a very welcome addition, it’s up to the Moog engineers to determine if it’s even possible for the Multi-Pedal to be used this way. If it is possible, I’d guess is that it’s already on the list of things to be considered for future updates.
Something else to consider here - even though the MF-107 can be used an oscillator (as can the MF-102 Ring Modulator), it was not designed with that purpose in mind. Within limits, the MF-107 can be used as a stand-alone oscillator (I’ve successfully used it this way with a Voyager/VX-351 combo), but the tracking and range are not the same as the oscillators found in the LP (or Voyager).
Regarding your question about the LP’s ‘pitch out’, the LP transmits MIDI note numbers that cover the range C1 - C8 (MIDI note numbers 24-108), which allows you to play another connected synth or tone module from the LP’s keyboard. MIDI note numbers are not the same as MIDI Continuous Controller (CC) messages. MIDI CCs provide control for such things as Modulation, Volume, Portamento Time, Panning and Patch selection (to name a few).
The Multi-Pedal can output up to 4 MIDI CC messages at a time, but does not transmit (nor respond to) MIDI note numbers.
