Hi,
I’ve purchased a mother 32 lately and try to patch it to my minitaur, so far what i did is quite obvious :
KB out > Pitch in (minitaur)
Gate out > gate in (minitaur)
Audio out > audio in (minitaur)
My problem is that the Minitaur pitch is too far low, like 2 or 3 octaves below compared with the expected notes from the midi keyboard
Does anyone encountered this problem ?
I’ve been looking at the minitaur editor standalone but didn’t find a parameter to retune the minitaur (pitch cv calibration option +1 or +4 get it very wierd)
Ok thanks
So to be more precise : when I press a C1 on my midi keyboard it played a C1 on the mother 32, but something like a C-2 on the minitaur, so to have the range of notes enabled by the minitaur I have to play up to C2, accordingly the mother 32 played on very high pitch
I guess it comes from the difference of voltage range between -5+5v for mother 32 and 0+5v for minitaur : is there a way to fix this so as to have the minitaur play the same note as the m32 ?
Hi,
so there is one good news : my minitaur hasn’t any specific problem, as you’ve encountered the same issue, it appears to be a general compatibility problem between m32 and minitaur
I’m aware that having both minitaur and m32 might be rare, though it appeared obvious to me to patch those two device
Hi,
yes it works fine this way of course with a multiple midi I/o device, but I want to use the midi in of the m32 to receive midi clock from my other synth which is a Dave Smith Evolver And I want to avoid using any DAW in this set up
cheers
Ok, so it works with the mother plugged to the attenuator of the CP251 and sent to the minitaur but still not at the same octave, anyway I do it differently by sending sending midi notes from my midi keyboard to a Motu Express and send both to minitaur and Mother, and then launch a midi clip from Ableton Live. So I gave up connecting the mother directly to the minitaur as I would trigger the mother’s sequencer and wish the minitaur to play along with it ;
this set up works fine too sending the Mother LFO to the LFO rate of a moogerfooger live the MF102
Using an attenuator on the cp 251 wont work well as the control voltage will have an exponentiall attenuation. Try instead to use the offset function. With that you can offset the kb output with one or two (or more if needed)volts/octaves.
Hi,
works fine all analogic this way :
KB out of mother 32>>In Mixer CP251 and out to pitch in Minitaur (need to tweak Offset and Master of CP251)
Gate out of mother 32>>Gate in Minitaur
Just watching this thread, because I don’t own a Minitaur yet.
But there is more than the +/- CV difference: Maybe you get also other user solutions for your problem by this older thread dealing exactly with the different internal Minitaur pitch representation (V/Hz instead of todays eurorack standard V/oct). https://forum.moogmusic.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=33544
