hope some of you guys can make it to one of these gigs. lots of moogs getting a work out - and a few analog cousins for extra variety
would be great to say hi to some of you…

Great !! Many thanks for posting this !!
Hi,
No plans for Liverpool or Manchester!?
Ta,
Paul
Hi paul,
Scouser myself
liverpool was on the list when the tour was being planned, (philharmonic), but in the end it fell off the list. Was sad about that myself…
Soz,
Si
Good luck with the gigs, having seen some youtube footage of you guys I would have definitely went to a Scottish date or one in the north of England, maybe next time! ![]()

Thats a shame! lol
No worries,
Paul
My wee sub getting ready for its first live show. Some old hands to its left for help and reassurance, with Simon Clark and Ade Utley in charge ![]()

Sihaz,
Is that a MULTI MOOG you have in your pic please?
Paul
hi mate,
that’s a micro there - i think the multi had a bit more width. my mate graham fitkin drives that one…
cheers,
si
moodier shot - pre gig ![]()

Sihaz,
Yes, they are SIMILAR in looks. I own a MULTI! ![]()
Paul
Thanks for posting these photos. This is such a great idea for an ensemble.
How do you like the EWI5000? Anyone else using one? I think someone was using a WX7 controlling a Minimoog in a rehearsal video from Sonicstate. Is anyone using a CV wind controller like a Lyricon or pre-MIDI EWI/EVI?
hi dr floyd,
the ewi 5000 is working really well with the sub. once i worked out how to send cc19 from the breath control i was away
i’d previously been using an ewi 3000s with this band but it’s 25 years old now and getting a little fragile so i thought an update was wise. best thing about the new one is not having the 2U brain to carry around with you. plus it has midi out on the instrument so i’ve added a panda midi wireless system meaning i’m free as a bird while playing now. feels great!
will and ross, (pictured), use older yamahas, (wx7 and 11), with kenton midi to cv boxes. they work but not as smoothly as the ewi, which produces less stepping, (actually none now i’ve got the set up right).
will does have a lyricon but it is out of action and since the lyricon designer died a year or so ago there seems to be no way to get the parts to fix them ![]()
cheers,
si

Wireless MIDI to Sub37 is a sweet solution. I hope we can hear it in action.
You can tell Will there is some movement occurring re: fixing Lyricons. I assume his Lyricon has a dried out wind transducer membrane. It is repairable. Hopefully more news later this year. I still have one working Lyricon left driving a Minimoog and it’s as fun as playing an acoustic instrument. No longer take it out live though.
thanks dr floyd, please do keep me up to date with any lyricon news - it’d be great to revive it. how exactly do you drive the minimoog. does the lyricon have cv out?
we’re not sure what the problem with the lyricon is exactly, but the membrane seems to be the weak link on them so it probably is that. it powers up ok but we can’t get the controller to persuade the case to make any noise sadly. the wireless midi kit came from here:
it’s tiny, cheap, easy on batteries, (get about 10 hours from a pair of rechargeable duracells), and light so i don’t even notice that it’s velcroed to the ewi. very pleased with it. no lag on the signal and the range is massive!

there you go dr floyd - still learning how to get the best out of these two but it’s working well i think…
That is fantastic. Thanks for posting the samples. That is a huge amount of articulation and detail. Great feel and personality too. The voicings are really nice. Really enjoying how you play with the ring mod and keep it melodic and musical.
The original Lyricon does not have CV outputs and is not friendly to adding any, so to Moog that I use the Roland SPV355 pitch-to-voltage and blend the Lyricon voice with the Moog. Sometimes even a bit of the Roland. Never live with all that stuff though.
The Lyricon Driver and Lyricon 2 both have CV outputs and gate/trigger, so they work really well with CV synthesizers. I’ve also been playing around with the Hot Hands wireless controller attached to the Lyricon to have motion changes affect some moogerfooger CV parameters. The CV Lyricon works very well with Mooger Freqbox and Filter as a little modular. But not as flexible as the Sub37. Hope to get one some day.
