So I came home today to find out that some dummy lit a car on fire in our lot, right underneath the air vents to our building… So it filled out entire building with smoke, and the fire department came in and opened all the windows to all the units etc…
That was at 8am this morning… It’s 4pm now, and it’s -6c outside… My Moog’s (LP/RME) are sitting right beside the window which was open for 8 hours… the metal feels very cold.. I’m really weary to turn these on untill they warm up…
you’re from edmonton hey? me too. starting to feel like winter cometh
if it is any consolation/reassurance, i have toured across canada in the dead of winter many many times, with two voyagers (Select/RME) in an unheated trailer, and they have always been fine. in fact i am in a hotel in saskatchewan right now (on my way to asheville for moogfest! another 3400+ km to go!) with my voyagers sitting out overnight in the trailer, and i’m not worried. i’d be very surprised if a balmy -6 harmed your buddies in the least.
I’d worry about possible humidity inside caused by the temp change.
Problems won’t manifest for a while but when it does, you’ll not know what started the problems.
It won’t be a lot of worry this one time but regularly gigged outdoor units can fail prematurely as they heat/cool when exposed to lower ambient temps.
I’m pretty jealous your heading to Moogfest… would love to be able to go.
And yeah, Edmonton… winter.. coming… not welcome haha. I think it was just a week or two ago I was running in the river valley, now I gotta break out the winter gear.
The Moog’s were fine too, I turned them on and let them warm up a bit before playing, everything was good… took quite a while for the place to warm up tho.. I doubt we’d have any condensation issues out here, seeing how dry it is.
