I’ve searched the forum to find what wood stain finsh is used on the Moogerfoogers.
I understand it’s a custom finish.
I found a post claiming Minwax makes a finish that is close.
Anyone know which Minwax finish that would be?
Gunstock is very close to the MoogerFooger sides. I remember Amos saying it’s not a perfect match, but after using it in home repairs, I must say, it is very close. 
Yes, the Minimax is actually quite close, plus you get polyphony to boot. In spite of the company’s name, it’s not cream at all… Ohhh you said Minwax. ??? loll
Now seriously… I got 6 foogers, 3 Big Briars and 3 Moogs. The Big Briars are pretty even, darker and glossier than Moog’s. The Moogs are not that close to one another.
The best is that you bring your moogerfooger to a good shop that sells Minwax and ask the expert on site to recommend the best match. The actual color, once stained, depends also of wood grain type, so make tests on scraps of wood before the real job.
Out of nine Foogers, only 2 match color. So I don’t think it really matters.
I picked up Gunstock the other day.
Seems like a good match.
