Im new to the idea of using the moogerfooger range and was thinking of getting one to start me off to use with my phatty stage 2.
I want to know if i could take the lfo output of the phaser and connect it to my cv in to add another lfo to the phattys cv filter or pitch inputs.
Am i also right in thinking that the phaser lfo can be set much slower than the phattys own lfo…?
Or would i get better results buying the cp-251 as a second lfo function for the phatty…?
If anyone out there can give me some advise id be more than grateful
yes you can send the phaser lfo to your phatty to control a cv perameter. but the amount knob on the phaser has no effect on the lfo coming out of the lfo jack, so you would need the cp 251 to attenuate it. unless you just want the full range of the lfo at all times.
and yes the phaser lfo goes MUCH slower than the phatty from what i have experienced. i own the phaser but not the phatty, i have played with it extensively though
so i would say if you are just looking for more control, get the cp251 first. if you want phaser and control get the mf103. but keep in mind the phaser hides many secrets
Thanks for that info i like the idea of a very slow lfo..
I think the cp-251’s lfo is the same speed as the phatty i will have to check.
Guess im going to need both at some point anyway.
Another quetion
If i was to rack up a few moogers would it be possible to send all the jack sockets to a balanced patchbay, rather than having to fiddle about at the rear of them.?
The cp251 offers ALOT of posibillities. The Phaser woudl be good though I don’t own one.
Consider racking your Foogers in one of those table top stands.
Basically when you enter the moogerfooger realm, youll find that you need all of them eventually.
In my opinion youd get more usage out of the CP 251 because it offers LFO, lag processing, attenuation, multiplication, combining signals, sample and hold and noise.
Of corse using the Phasers filters can be a great addition to your sound, but in my personal opinion because the LP has limited CV options, the CP251 will let you do more with that. If you only get 2 Foogers, the CP should be one of them.
The second statement basically says what my reply to the first statement would be. Which is, you totally need the 103. As for the third quote, we are truly a family here. A bit dysfunctional at times, but definitely a family. Welcome indeed!
To put some numbers to it, the LFO in the CP-251 and Little Phatty are both spec’d at 0.2 Hz on the low end. However, the CP-251 LFO can go much lower if you apply a negative voltage (check out the CP-251 ‘Super Slow LFO’ tip on KnobTweak for more info).
The LFO in the LP can go up to about 500 Hz on the high end, while the the LFO in the CP-251 will only go some where in the range 100 - 200 Hz (didn’t make exact measurements).
