Moog Sub Phatty custom wooden side panels

Since I made a red Mellotron-like wooden stand for my Nord Modular G2, I also wanted red wooden panels for my Sub Phatty.
A friend of mine made them for me (no computer controlled machinery used).

I’m very proud of the result. Will post a new picture soon with the current red color (I also like the natural look).

Here it is, the end result:

That looks pretty good. A pic with better lighting if available would show off the workmanship a bit better.

Lovely!

That looks really great!

Lovely !!!.. I want one !

How much (+ shipping to Switzerland) ?

Cheers,

Aleks

That’s absolutely fantastic. Congrats on the nice mod.

That’s very nice. The Nord case/stand looks great too.

its funny…i think the black cheeks the Sub comes with look really awsome. Clean and modern, with the retro styling on the knobs and silver panel its a great combination. If the Sub came with red wood cheeks i bet i would be drooling to get a hold of some nice black rubber cheeks! But the job you have done is really amazing, especially around the midi ports where there needs to be inset holes and a square USB port.

Red definately makes it look more “Minimoog” ish

Beauty!

Simply wonderful…

how much to have them ???

Looks really great !!

What wood did you use ?

Looks great! I’d love to have the natural wood version. Let me know if your friend is going to make more

It’s birch.

I liked the natural look too, but together with the NS88 and NMG2 it looks nicer in red.

Nice Job
When finding your realisation, I also could not resist to customize my Little Phatty Stage to go with my Nord NE3.
Last Xmas, I had the chance to convince my father-in-law, who is carpenter to help me finalize the project!..and I also enjoy the result
The panels are made of maple wood. There is one layer of red paint, 2 satin lack layers, and finally two gloss coated layers to get the overall brillant “plastic” texture. Approx. 6 hours of work to carve the panel pieces from the raw board, and few days of patience for successive painting, drying, and rubbing.

Few photos of the result !

(Note: I know few of us are interested in, but my favorite carpenter told me that those panels would remain unique  :unamused: …)

Great!!!

Plus the Nord Electro + Moog combo is a killer

That’s beautiful work.

Very nice!!!

In all honesty, I think this is a great work, and very well done… BUT, I didn’t like it.
I’ve seen a mahogany one that was simply gorgeous. I think the RED is screwing with it and doesn’t match the design. Anyway, a very good carpentry work.

Cheers!
