The UK branch of the Moog company in this thread is about 5 miles from my home in Gloucestershire. As a teenager I assumed all things musical were going on within, but later found that a mate’s dad worked there and made boring old electronic control valves for aircraft and racing cars…
I am told that there is a family connection with Dr. Bob.
They are all cousins, from what I read. I wouldn’t be surprised that a family
of so many engineers originally settled in the US as blacksmiths and so on…
Wonder how many of these companies existed in the U.S. before 1968 – because that’s when the public at large first heard about the Moog Synthesizer?
Some borderline irony in that ARP’s Alan R. Pearlman designed stuff for NASA before he built synths. Very unlikely, but imagine if this other MOOG company dated back to his NASA days and were business rivals with A.R.P.
