Moog Source Issues..

Hello.

I recently acquired a Moog Source. So beautiful! An interesting piece of trivia is that this Source was originally owned by Daryl Dragon, the Captain of Captain and Tenille. His name, and his brother Doug are both still on the original box. The guy I purchased it from is friends with Doug and told me some great stories of Doug and played me some recordings they had done together with this moog.

Unfortunately it has a couple of problems. Hopefully someone can help. I downloaded and flicked through the service manual but couldn’t see anything that would help and Im not really knowledgable with electronics.

  1. The value for oscillator 2 in the mixer section has only a very tiny influence on the level of the oscillator. The touch button works and the dial works and the value scrolls between 0-99 as it should, but the actual volume barely changes. Therefore the level basically stays the same as whatever level was stored in the preset that I am editing. Also if the preset level was set to 0 the oscillator2 still sounds at a low volume and can’t be turned off. Osc1 works fine.

Are there trimpots inside I can use to re-calibrate this? Any help appreciated.

  1. The other problem is that I can’t seem to switch off filter modulation when the lfo is in triangle mode. If I switch to square wave modulation it will turn off, but the off button swithes it on, and the on button switches it off!. Turn back to triangle wave and the filter modulation remains on and won’t be switched off. Any help on this much appreciated.

Thanks in advance. Cheers!

Could be dirty contacts. My source has the same prob with osc 2 control. Would like to know myself what the problems is.
