Moog Source......how to use the Sequencer sync in (DIN)

Hello,

Well, I’ve spent all day trying to set up my Source so that it receives info from my computer.

I downloaded a program and soldered a cable from a place called rV0. The whole thing is supposed to send DIN info through the phones output of my Fireface 400 to the Source via the ‘sync in’ input.

Needless to say, program set up in logic as a plug , moog plugged in . Nothing.

This is a very brief description of what I;ve been trying to do for the last 8 hours. All with the sole intention of being able to control the Source from Logic.

So, I was just wondering if anyone here could shed some light on the possibilites of control the moog’s pitch/tempo via the ‘sync in’ input. If that person could explain how people normally go about using the sync in in moog that’d also be greatly appreciated.

Matt

The SYNC input controls tempo of the sequencer. It does not control the pitch, and I’m not sure if it controls tempo of the arpeggiator.

Based on what you wrote, it appears as if you aim to just sync gate to clock.

First thing you should try is to trigger your Source with another piece of equipment to ensure that it’s in working order.

Actually, the first thing is to verify to see if your interface is DC coupled vs. AC. Without knowing anything about the app or cable, some interfaces will not accurately reproduce the audio as voltage. Have a look at the Expert Sleepers site for more info. Your interface may be on the good side do the list… Mine (Saffire 24 Pro) was not.

One other th g you might try if you have an iPhone or pad is to download the Korg app which outputs a sync signal via master clock and 1/8" standard jack; meant for monotribes.

I have MIDI / DIN convertor boxes that will convert MIDI clock to Sync24. That is the most reliable method I know of. One, the Rees MDS, only extracts the clock. The other, an Expressionist, is a full MIDI/CV convertor box. Overkill for your application. There are things out there, but you will have to search.

You did touch “Level 2” and then “Ext.” Did you?
Only the tempo will be controlled, no pitch.

Greetings,

Pieter
