Moog Semi-Modular Rig Sounds

I’ve been getting a handle on my Moog semi-modular rig and finally decided to press record. This is just a long pass of noodling on a piece I called “3rd Eye of the Storm”. All sounds are from the XL, 2xM32s, Moogerfoogers - with AUX EFX help from my Alesis Wedge and Eventide Space. It’s not musical - it’s really just me experimenting and following a mood as I imagined a ship in a storm, lost at sea. I’ve been having a lot of fun experimenting with the M32s now and I’m constantly finding new sounds that I didn’t think I could get. The freqbox, lowpass, M32 combo is KILLER. I can get some NASTY sub kicks…The midimurf/M32 is pretty wicked, too. I really can add movement w/ the stereo panning.

It looks like this:
Disengaged Env. Gate, Noise with saw oscillators 1&3 on XL running through ->MF102->MF104m->MF103->MF108m free running LFO1.
XL LFO2 S&H Attenuator modulating Frequency on MF-Ring Modulator, TriLFO modulating MIX
XL S&H CV out to VCO (lower) Mother32 (VCA MODE ON)
(lower) Mother32 ->MF-105M
(top) Mother32 kick patch (VCA MODE ON) running → MF-Freqbox → MF-Lowpass
Shortwave Radio straight into the mix.

As I get better control, I’ll continue to hone the sounds. For now, I’m just bugging out and having fun.

Wow, some very nice sounds emerging! Keep up the good work, this is similar to how I approach things so I have a lot of empathy for this.

Thanks! Yeah, I’m really enjoying going down this hole. It’s so much more fun going into writing music/creation sounds so differently. I’m used to writing ‘songs’ for my band. This is a lot more raw and, in a lot of ways, more enjoyable.

I love this kind of stuff. I’m about 5 minutes into it and digging the hell out of it. Some of what sounds like stroking guitar strings reminds me of creaking masts on an old man-o-war or something…and foghorns. Love this type of atmospheric programming. Good work!

Thanks Erick! That sound is actually the Mother32 through the Eventide Space! I was really digging on it, too, and was surprised when I coaxed it out. I’m just having a blast getting to know the rig and constantly finding new sounds and frequencies. I’m looking forward to continuing down this path and hearing what else I come up with - especially once I get better control over the behemoth.
