moog rogue: oscillators cant be heard at output

Hi,

I picked up a Rogue about 12 years ago. It worked great for about one week, then stopped making any noise.

The not-so-good repair shop told me (after holding onto it for one year) that something was wrong with the oscillators and it was a part they could not replace…and “oh yeah…your power supply is wrong for this unit too”.

So the rogue got shelved until now. I just picked up a new rogue PS from the *bay (armen) and plugged it in. The unit powers up, the filter self oscillates, but the oscillators simply make no noise at the output.

Can anyone make any suggestions on what to look for, or have seen this problem before? If the “wrong” power supply was used in the past, could it have damaged components on the board even though the unit worked fine?

Thanks in advance!

i don’t know anything about fixing it, sorry.

but does it have an ext input? if it doesn’t and you can’t get it to work then you should mod it so you can route ext sounds through the filter, at least then you get some use out of it.

Hi,

Recently fired up my old Rogue for the first time in years… Hear a clicking sound when pushing the keys, or when switching it on or off, and there’s a mild medium pitched hum - but otherwise no sound from anything/oscillators etc.

This is the first time I’ve fired it up with a generic 24V adaptor (not the supplied Rogue AC) - could this have something to do with it? Or ditto the previous the poster’s query about a “wrong” power supply?

Otherwise perhaps the Osc died from lack of use?

Thanks,

I had a bizarre problem that seemed like the oscillator or amp were dying, but then I found a good quality power supply and it fixed everything.
With analogs, power is king. This is the correct PSU, works flawlessly.

Hope this helps.

I had a similar problem.
Replaced the PSU and it worked perfectly again.
There are several sellers on ebay that have the right one.

I asked my tech cause he helped me several times on my T2 unit but he said there can be a lot of reasons for the not working of the oscillators.
But what about the noise function if you raise the slider fully up to the top ? Does this work ?
