Moog piano bar on Craigslist

Was going through the list and found this tonight. Never seen one before. Would be neat if it was shorter and could put it on my Hammond!

They had just discontinued this oddity when I bought my LP. It was manufactured by Buchla, but sold by Moog. It cost somewhere around $2000, as I recall. The voice cards are still listed on some websites.

wow really? I always thought that was kind of a strange product for moog. Now if it sent pitch/gate out to control an analog synth that I could see moog making. It was a cool idea, just didn’t strike me as moog-ish

I think that’s why it was discontinued…even I couldn’t justify spending $2000 for something like that…and I was willing to get a beat up piano without strings just so I could use the thing…but it was too limited.

The price was $1495.

Buchla uses the same memory card format for his 200e and LIGHTNING. So it is a bit amusing to plug one in with a Moog logo on it, though Buchla’s cards lack the shell the Moog branded ones have.

I guess there was a bit of a catch 22. Buchla certainly had few dealer connections. Moog Music has mainstream dealer connections but with few retailers dealing in pianos where I would think this would really need to be placed and promoted. Moog music too was somewhere that he could go to and not be cheated . Many innovative ideas just get copied when they get shown to the big companies and money to work around most patents.
