Moog music, music…

In this topic you can post your moog music music. By that I mean music containing a moog instrument. Please add some info about your song, like say what sounds are made by a Moog and so on.

I’ll go first.

This is a sound track I made for an amateur movie (not that kind of movie). A co-worker of mine was making an amateur thriller movie and he wanted me to write the sound track. He wanted it to sound like late 70s early 80s, a bit like the movie “Escape from New York” directed by John Carpenter 1981.

The Model D is playing bass-line, the little extra blips 1 minute into the song and the filter sweep 1.35 minutes into the song. The rest is Prophet~5 including the extra bass melody in the end. I tried to get the drums to sound a bit out if sync, like a drummer trying to sound like a drum machine and playing live to an analogue sequencer.

Excellent! You are a legend!

The bass line reminds me of Donna Summer!

I totally agree. Also reminds me of a song from the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack called “Rock 'n Roll Me Again.” And, can any of you hear Alan Parsons’ “Where’s the Walrus?”

[I’ll have my piece of music up, as soon as I can get my hands on a Moog synth. :stuck_out_tongue: ]

Oh no, don’t say it is a rip off I made???!! Which song by Donna Summer do you think of?? I haven’t heard any songs by Donna Summer.

The song Boeing is referring to is called “I Feel Love.”

According to the song’s producer, Georgio Moroder, the song was almost entirely performed on a Moog synthesizer (probably a Minimoog), with the exceptions of a bass drum and (obviously) Mrs. Summer’s vocals.

Yeah, I meant that the bass line reminds me of Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love” I didn’t mean that you ripped it off.

Where have you been if you ain’t heard that song? Even Bronski Beat did a cover of it!

Hi!

Now I’ve listen to Donna Summer’s I Feel Love… The rhythm of the bass line is very similar but I don’t think it is a rip off… right!??

Got any more excellent music to share with us?

Well I have this raw demo of a song I’m working on right now. I need to write lyrics, record vocals and a guitar.

The bass is played by my Model D.

Good sound. What synths / boards did you use for the polyphonic parts?

One thing I’ve always beenj interested in tackling is how to acheive a great synth bass sound on a stage. It’s really easy in the studio, but how do you get the same Moog sound you use on records to function exactly the same way live?

Any takers? Is it EQ settings, or which speaker cabinet it comes out of?

There is a lot of Prophet~5 in the song. Prophet~5 is my favourite poly sizer next to the OB8. Both those sizers really sounds warm and alive.

The string in the beginning/bridge and polyphonic melodies 30 seconds in are Prophet~5 as well as the outro melody in the end. The Prophet also plays the chords 57 seconds into the song. Strings are Andromeda and OB-8. The Andromeda also plays the melodies in the intro and the modulated melodies in the bridge. The bass in the intro is the Jupiter-6.

I usually never use EQ or compressors on sounds in my songs. I try to create sounds that don’t need to use EQ. I feel it is hard to use compressors since I feel that the dynamic in the sound is lost… probably because I don’t know how to tweak a compressor.

I almost never add reverb on basses… If I do it is ultra short.

Hi!

Here is a song I’m working on of for an amateur action movie that contains a moog sizer. The director wants the soundtrack to sound like early 80’s action movies ála “Escape From New York”. I’ve already done the lead soundtrack and the car chase soundtrack. I thought this song could be used when the hero is searching for the bad guy e.g. in a warehouse and when the here has killed him and walks away.
I haven’t seen the picture yet. I send the director demos and he gives me comments about the songs. It is a fun way to work and gives me a lot of freedom.

This is not the kind of music I usually do but it is really fun to just play around. Anyway here is a raw demo version, not mixed or anyting.
