Moog Muse vs Prophet 5 comparison

So my last polysynth was a prophet 5, and now i got the moog muse.

And to me it seems the strengths and weaknesses of these 2 synths are almost inverted

Prophet 5, no secret everybody knows it, super solid foundation, mono, you just cant do too much with it. but what you do is epic, giant sweet spot.

Muse, does it have a great sound, yes! absolutely, but not for everything.

like i tried to do a basic van halen jump patch

i dont love that. whachu guys think, am i judging this too harshly? did i have a setting messed up?! i sure hope so but i think this is it..

also on the P5 i could do certain warm patches, that almost are like a sinewave, i could not get anywhere close to that on the moog (not possible i think)

The other side of the coin is obviously where the moog shines, all the great things it can do

but im starting to see how some people end up in a room with 50 synths, saving money for nr 51 lol

I brightened it up with EQ, i kinda like it now

its so weird, while i was making the patch i hated it. but now after listening to this im not sure whats even wrong with it

im not trying to blame a Muse for not sounding like a OBX8 XD

hope it doesnt come off that way. whole time i didnt like how the saw waves come together but now after EQing, i think it came out nice enough?

Different synths with different synth architectures. I have a OBX8 and a P10 Rev4. Vintage modern reissues with modern amenities like midi, aftertouch and velocity that the vintage synths lacked. The Muse is a different synth with different capabilities and features,sound and in my opinion is more capable when it comes to sound design where as the other synths are all about the vintage analog sound. I used to have a OBXA back in the day many years ago. I purchased it used from a studio I had recorded at for $500 dollars. My OBX8
Costs 10 times that.

As VCO said, the architectures are different. The Prophet 5 uses Curtis VCFs, which are integrated state variable filters. Those filters form the typical sound of the 80th and are a standard architecture from that time.
I consider the sound of that architecture as the best warm analogue synthesizer sound of all times, especially compared to the digital stuff from today.
I cloned the Oberheim SEM which uses state variable filter topology as well, and this is the best filter in my collection.
