Moog Mother-32

The new Moog Mother-32 is being discussed at Gearslutz

It’s a single voice semi-modular knobby desktop synth with a built-in sequencer. The sequencer has 32 steps. There are 32 CV input/output jacks. MIDI in but no MIDI out. The Moog ladder filter is switchable between LPF and HPF. The sequencer if highly flexible and has lots of cool tricks up its sleeves.

Woot! :sunglasses:

I heard there was one at KnobCon.

Take my money Moog! Supposedly an official announcement is coming Wednesday.

Hehe, sounds like a standalone 1 VCO voice, in Eurorack format nonetheless, $599 I hear. Somewhat like a Werkstatt with CV IO as 3.5 mm/0.1378" sockets.

(will keep discussion in the General forum)

Seems pretty cool. With the added sequencer and a more robust housing like the Minitaur opposed to the Werkstatt. If it does Midi to cv it’s a perfect companion to the Subs, a third osc etc… The Oberheim SEM patch panel has 33 CV/ signal I/Os this has 32, seems like a full. complement.

I’ll most likely buy one.

The Mother-32 will do MIDI to CV. I checked it out at Knobcon. I’m not into modular, but this looks like an easy and not-so-dangerous entry into that world. The official unveiling will be this Wednesday.

I guess in a roundabout way, this is what people were asking for during the past 10 years or so. You probably have your ADSR env., LFO and VCA now, albeit with smaller/denser sockets. Who wants to speculate on the 32 ?

Maybe it should be called the M-64 then

Im trying to figure out the name. They called the Computer on Alien “Mother.”

That’s does it!!! The Force is powerful in this one. I know i’m not going to be able to say NO Mother-32, i’m turning myself in now to Moog Anonymous, i’m calling my sponsor as i type this…

There were 3 working units at Knobcon and they were fun to hear and play with!

The Mother-32 at Knobcon didn’t have a full ADSR envelope. It was A and D only. There was a switch to set it to full sustain.

Kind of a bummer, that only the Knobcon attendees got to see and hear this…what are we, chopped liver?! I guess the buzz about this being previewed today was a hoax? Man, I do hate this ‘teaser’ stuff with a passion. Some colleagues and I have been eyeing the Dark Time for a while, I realize the specs for the Mother are listed above but I haven’t had a moment to A/B this against the Doepfer on paper and besides, specs alone don’t tell the tale. So far, what I’m reading and hearing indicates a killer little box…I concur, if they’re going to call it Mother, it had better have a pretty substantial self-destruct.

Life has taught me to not really get into all the fervor until I see it being released, and, a proper demo. I am a long-time fan of other Synth Co.'s, and will use Waldorf as an example, and no chagrin towards Waldorf, but experience has taught me to refer to anything as ‘vaporware’ until tangible evidence and documentation proves otherwise and on a shelf for sale. (love my Pulse 2 but I fell for the pre-order hype and waited months, never again)

If it is hyperbole marketing hype…well, it’s a different world and taking advantage of social media with ‘teasers’ is like “The Art of War”, strategy, strategy, and strategy.
(I will laugh until tears if Moog does send out a mass email at 23:59 N. Carolina Time)…LOL!

Meanwhile, I feel I have “Father” with the Sub 37 and getting back to ear-candy. Silly Humans. Demon Dan just posted some serious Sub 37 CV Routing Homework…it will definitely take your mind off of ‘Mother’

The rumor machine at work. Nothing new so far. No announcement from Moog Music, pure speculation.

Well, not pure speculation, since people got to demo it at Knobcon this past week.

This was posted on GS the other day:

…And no one at Knobcon thought to snap a photo? Come on, people…
